Welcome to...
Impulse City
••
It was a strange little island. It had it's beginnings as an island that wasn't lived on, and it was just another uninteresting place where only fishermen went to have lunch. Well, one wealthy man came across it, and was in love with it's size, it's scenery... so he bought it. Originally, Charles Harlow named the island "Harlow Island" after himself. However, it was much too small to have anything more than one city, so it was eventually changed to "Harlow City." The rich quickly populated it, and although technically American, it wasn't obvious. The place was richly tropical, and wealthy families from all over the world came to enjoy. However, decades went by, and people started to notice something... strange.
People weren't holding themselves back in the way that society expected them to. Some very successful men would be seen screaming and throwing things at their superiors, costing them their jobs. People were seen on the streets literally throwing themselves at others and groping them as well as begging for their attention. Quite a number were just singing down the street. It seemed that no one could control certain impulses, such as their anger, lust, or pride. So, as the years passed, it was quickly nicknamed "Impulse City." Rich families crumbled, while other families rose in ranks. It all depended on what the person's strongest impulses were, to do good or bad, or something in between. It cost jobs, it started amazing relationships. It was amazing and terrible all at once.
The family of five, the Harlow family, still own most of the island. Mother and father Molly and Jack Harlow along with their children Gavin, Oliver and Emily Harlow. However, before Jack's father passed away, he signed away just an eighth of the island to the Rawson family. The Rawson family was small, with only father Lyle Rawson and his daughter and son, Natalie and Chase. The Rawson family has been known to wanting to take over the entire island, and by doing things such as giving people false hope that they know what's going on with this impulse problem and how it can be resolved. So not only is there a feud between the Harlow and Rawson family, but the whole island is divided. Who do they want to support, the Harlows or the Rawsons? Nobody knows, however, that if the Rawsons eventually get control of the island, they're planning terrible things... including eliminating anyone who supports the Harlows.
So now everyone on the island has two concerns: trying unsuccessfully to control their impulses, and trying to decide who they should really be following.
