EYE COLOUR: hazel
HEIGHT: five feet & seven inches
WEIGHT: one hundred & fifty pounds
BODY TYPE: fairly stocky, well-built
VOICE: calm, soothing, deep, central english accent
PERSONAL STYLE: Romeo cares little about what he wears, choosing simple - yet neat - outfits. He tends towards collared shirts, though he's now usually only seen in the green healers' robes. If not a collared shirt, he is often found in sweaters. For trousers he wears practical, sturdy jeans or or simple, black dress trousers. Despite being a muggleborn, he adapted quickly to the wizarding world, and so robes of any kind have become a common accoutrement. Other than that, he rarely - if ever - wears shorts or anything showing more than his forearms.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Romeo is just another one of those guys who considers himself quite plain and very normal. He's got typical hair, a dull brown, and a slightly less common hair type that refuses to stay neat. It's extremely curly, long, and messy, and just seems to fall all over the place no matter what he does. His eyes are a curious shade of hazel, the corners of which wrinkle when he smiles, and his eyebrows are fairly thin. His nose has the crooked look of having been broken - which it was - and his strong jaw is usually covered with a layer of stubble. His lips are fairly gentle and usually wear a soft smile. He had quite a bit of premature wrinkles, though they usually only show when he shares his broad smile. In way of height, Romeo considers himself quite small. He's a bit on the heavy side, but that tends to vary throughout the year. In general, he's quite stocky and sturdy despite his lack of exercise, but that's more luck in the genetic department than anything. For a man, his hands are quite soft, his movements quite reserved.

BIOGRAPHY: The Martens family has never been the most average of muggle families. Gregory and Kara were both english majors that loved Shakespeare's plays. They both, oddly enough, had decided to go into stage acting (Shakespearian, of course) where they met and discovered their mutual love. It wasn't unexpected that they fell in love and got married, though they never did give up their love of acting or of Shakespeare, as was made obvious by the names they picked for their children.
The first they named Titania Hermia, as they were in the middle of a Midsummer's Night Dream production. Then came Antonia Bassanio, Fleance Banquo, and eventually Romeo Mercutio. He was the youngest boy, and only followed by Ophelia Gertrude, the youngest in the family and the second girl. Since there were such large age gaps in the family, particularly between the two girls, so they were never the closest of siblings, but they never seemed to have any problems between any of them.
What their parents hadn't expected was that the five children were all witches and wizards. It had come as a great shock when Titania managed to make things fly around without touching them, but they had managed to accept the magic upon receiving a Hogwarts letter. When the other four began to show signs of magic, it was much less of a shock, but still a curiosity
Once Hogwarts began, Romeo began having some problems. As a kid, he'd been cute, in that clumsy way of his. But upon going to the school, everything just went downhill. He was a Hufflepuff, which was never a good thing, but he was also quite shy and had a bit of trouble with magic. Usually he would be found daydreaming in a corner or sketching someone he knew. While he made some immediate friends, his friend group was always quite small, though it did expand to include a girl upon whom he developped a crush in their late Hogwarts years. The people who gave him the biggest of troubles were actually a group of Gryffindors in his year; it was never intentional, but the Gryffindors always made life worse for Romeo, showing him exactly why he could never measure up to anything.
Seventh year brought along some changes. Romeo finally picked a career, one that few believed he'd ever go for, mostly due to the high marks required: a healer. Nonetheless, it was the perfect career for him, and he would finally find his place amongst the other compassionate people that worked there. Knowing what he'd have to acheive on his NEWTs, Romeo settled down to studying and managed to reach his goal. Gleefully, he returned home for the summer in preparation for his new life as a healer. His higher marks had given him confidence, he managed to lose the childhood chubbiness, and he even grew a bit, all of which brought about a great change for in the better within himself.
Perhaps the most important event that changed Romeo's attitude about everything was the fight he got into with his older brother, Fleance, that ended with Romeo's nose being broken. It was the summer after graduation, just before Romeo was to go off to become a healer. Fleance had always been the agressive one, and had never gottena long particularly well with pacifistic Romeo. Fleance had begun taunting him about his chosen career path, about how it was very "feminine" and "cowardly". Romeo strongly believed that it was where he could make the biggest difference in the world. Eventually, Fleance began to get angry at Romeo, at his brother's lack of anger, lack of response, for Romeo refused to fight back, whether verbally or physically. And so Fleance punched him and broke his nose. Romeo attempted a healing on himself - it was not entirely successful as he had almost no knowledge of the healing arts at that point - and so his nose, while healed, has a crooked look to it.
Healer training merely continued his road to confidence. He excelled at healing, his compassionate nature perfectly suited to that career. A few short years later, he completed the training at the top of his class. Romeo had made some great friends during that time, friends that he'd be able to work with. But with all the problems in the wizarding world, friendship is - unfortunately - taking a lower priority. Now that the healers are so hard-pressed to keep up with the amount of injured and dead, they're all feeling the stress, even the usually-calm Romeo.

Evening was at once an annoyance and a blessed thing. It marked the coming of night - a time in which the castle finally grew silent - but also brought in the hoardes of people that usually caused the incessant noise throughout the day. In other words: the evening was noisy, even in the Ravenclaw tower. It wasn't well-known, but the Ravenclaws were considered to be the wildest partiers of all the houses. They were simply smart enough that they could hide it from snooping professors. There were, of course, the few who never joined in on such things, but most everyone did. Even if certain Ravenclaws were not big into partying, the opportunity for free sweets (and the occasional alcoholic beverage) was too much to pass up. At least, to most every Ravenclaw in the Tower that evening except one.
That one was currently glowering over his squared glasses, his nose in a book. He'd tried to convince a Prefect that it wasn't late enough to start a party (after all, curfew hadn't come into effect) but as usual, they'd ignored him. No one ever listened to him anymore. He was only trying to do as every good Ravenclaw should, but those cretins had decided that Ravenclaws were partiers tonight. As irritable as ever, he flipped the page in his book, nearly tearing it. Okay, that was it. If he was endangering books, he'd have to find somewhere else to read where the noise would not cause damage to the librarian's precious texts.
His book snapped shut noisily, but no one noticed amidst the steadily growing volume levels. It would be a fun practical joke to put a silencing charm over the lot of them, but they'd probably figure out it was him. After all, he was the only one there powerful enough or smart enough to cast a silencing charm over the entire room full of people. Waiting until there was enough room around his chosen chair - everyone seemed to be standing up all of a sudden - Eugene hauled himself to his feet and began the tremendous task of reaching the exit so that he could go up to his dormitory and perhaps acquire some hard-earned silence up there.
He really should have realised that it just wasn't his day. The minutes ticked steadily on as he fought through the crowd, his claustrophobia causing terrible problems moment to moment. It was with relief that he climbed up the stairs to his dormitory, his head aching, his glasses askew from having been jostled so very much. Upon opening the door to his dormitory, Eugene froze. Though he couldn't see anything, the noises that were emerging from behind the hangings of a roommate's bed were definitely... disturbing. There was no way he'd be able to read up here with who knew what going on over there. He'd have to find somewhere else to go, something else to do.
His eyes sought the window, gauged the weather and temperature out there. It was February, so it shouldn't be too cold, and it appeared to be fairly dry. As quietly as possible, the Ravenclaw opened his trunk and placed his book within, though not before taking out a dark windbreaker. It would be windy out there, he decided, though he was still a bit dubious. It was a rare day that he ever wanted to go anywhere near the outdoors, except for Care of Magical Creatures, perhaps. Nonetheless, he was sure to get his much-needed silence. That was needed more than any perceived danger from UV rays.
His windbreaker slipped over his shoulders, then he left the dormitory, already ignoring his roommate. As usual. The pig had a new girlfriend every week. He was probably knocking up girls left and right... Eugene's thoughts were cut off by the dull roar that had become the common room. Another slow navigation later, he was free, out in the cool, empty halls of the school. Some days he missed the modern hallways of his old muggle school, but magic was worth this. It was worth going without technology for most of seven years, even if he did feel like his mind was going to explode from the lack.
Speaking of his mind exploding, his headache had not improved during that second trek through the common room. It had made it worse, in fact. A lot worse. It might have made more sense to go see the healer, but he was sure that the nurse was sick of him by now. It would be better to just suck it up and let it go away on its own time. Going outside might even help, if the weather were just right. He allowed that positive thought to sustain him through his wander down to the front doors.
Going outside was like a breath of fresh air. Actually, it was just like that. Probably because fresh air came from outside... nevermind. Sometimes even Eugene had to tell himself to shut up. The sun was fairly low on the horizon, making Eugene squint as he looked around, not noticing that his glasses were still askew. No one was out there, which was probably for the best. They'd end up leaving now that he was out here. Eugene tended to have that sort of effect on most people. Few could stand his presence for more than a few minutes. It was kind of... upsetting, actually. But he wouldn't allow himself to be upset. Not now, not with his pounding head, not with the sun searing his retinas...
A sudden motion caught his eye. It seemed that the Whomping Willow was in a particularly bad mood. Just like Eugene. Maybe they could be in a bad mood together, if the tree didn't kill him first, of course. Nonetheless, he headed over towards the tree, not entirely sure what it was he was going to do now that he was out here.through all your life
