+ You'll be the princess and I'll be the prince It's a love story, baby, just say yes [/color]
James felt like he was on cloud nine. He was madly in love with his childhood friend, Harper Clearwater and now he had planned everything out - he had invited her to Paris to spend the weekend with him. She had accepted and now they was here. It was friday afternoon and they were soon out to find something to eat. Right now they were at their hotelroom, watching the view to the Eiffel Tower. He smiled at her, she was about to get ready to go. James was ready. Finally she was ready to go. He had been in Paris before, when he was like ten years old. He had been here with his mother, who was doing some research for work. So it had been an all business and no pleasure trip. Now, thirteen years later he ahd the chance again. And this time with the girl from his dreams - Harper.
He didn't take her hand. Not yet. They weren't a couple yet, so why tempt the fate? James was going to ask her something huge tonight, hoepfully she didn't knew. The big surprise would be ruined if she knew anything. But James had been in muggle London with Al the other day, and Al had helped him found a good and pretty ring to Harper. And not just every ring. It was an engagement ring. James had thought this through over and over and this was the best solution he could come up with. He was 23 and wanted to be a father within a few years. He had an awesome job and he was ready to commit one hundred percent.
They arrived at the restaurant and James went over and spoke french with the manager and soon after he showed them to a table for two. James smiled and was being a gentleman - he pulled out the chair for Harper, and after that he sat down himself. James smiled at her.

& harper et jamesParis. Harper looked out the window of the hotel and sighed. She was in Paris with her best friends. He invited her for the weekend. She had always wanted to see Paris, so when James asked her to go, she was more than happy to accept. I mean, hello, Jim Morrison was burried in Paris. She was going to have to drag James to his grave before they left. She smiled and started to daze. The city was gorgeous. She was glued to te windows like a five year old when they were driving to the hotel. She could spend hours looking at the ctiy tiself and not even do anything. She was content with watching. But they were going to eat, and she had to get ready. She wasn't one of those girls who took years getting ready to go somewhere. No, she was low maintenance, and she didn't like being girly. It wasn't something she liked to do. She was a tomboy to the core, no matter what. So today she was keeping things simple. She was wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans and a button up white blouse. She left her dark hair down in its natural waves, but pulled it to the side of her neck in a ponytail. Sh put a little more eyeliner on than usual, but she still looked normal. She looked like Harper. Plus, it wasn't like she was going out on a date wth James. He was her best friend, not her boyfriend.
Harper sighed. She hadn't dated in almost two years. She wad dating this amazing guy named Lane Harper for a year. He was her best friend throughout school, and even though they were in different houses, they saw each other all the time. She fell for him when she was sixteen, but nothing happened until she was about nineteen. He took her out on her birthday, and that was their first date. He asked her out over champagne and french food that she hated, and from then on, Harper was set in the love department. Everything was perfect. But on her twentieth birthay, she came home to find their apartment burned and Lane in the hospital. She had always blamed herself for Lane's death. Even though countless people had told her it wasn't her fault. James himself had told her many times that it wasn't her fault. Still, she blamed herself to this day. If she had been home...
Harper smiled at the host as James mumbled something in French to him. She had no idea what he was saying. She just smiled. She smiled a little more when James pulled out her chair for her. She sat down and looked over at him. "So, why do I feel like we should be talking more? It's, like, way too quiet." She said, looking over the menu.

James smiled at her. She was right - it was way too quiet. He had while Harper hadn't been looking given something to the waiter. A ring in a small box. It was his engagement ring to her. "You are right. You and me aren't good with all this silence. So, what do you want to eat? Just pick."James said and smiled at her. It seemed like a nice restaurant. He remembered back when he was here the first time. It had only been an hour or so and he had to sit still for that whole hour. It had been extremely hard for James.
Now he smiled at Harper Belle Clearwater - his future wife possibly? If she said yes. It would be hard for James if she declined. So he almost begged that she would accept his proposal. He had been telling his parents about his plan and his mother had actaully started crying. Harry, his father had to comfort his mother. But she told him it was happy tears. That made James a bit more calm. They both told him that they both liked Harper very much and she would be a good wife. James had smiled about that.
And James had shown the ring he had bought. Harry and Ginny thought it was aboslutely beautiful and very suting. James had said goodbye, hugging his parents and taken of to meet Harper, so they could take to Paris together. And now they were here. James smiled at her, taking her hands and kissed them one by one. "I have something to ask you, Harper. Don't freak out like my mom did when I told her. But I hope you say yes. It would mean everything to me." He said and stopped there. A waiter came and James ordered a bottle of their best red wine in french. The waiter nodded and after a minute the waiter came with the red wine.

& harper et jamesHarper smiled at her best friend. This was too good to be true. It couldn't be real. She was in heaven- or something close to it at least. She was in a beautiful city, sitting at a beautiful restaurant, with her amazing best friend. All she needed was for Johnny Resnick to come and ask her to marry him. Johnny Resnick was the lead singer of her favorite band called The Goo Goo Dolls. They were an older band from her mother's time and her mother loved them, so she got Harper into them. That was about the only thing she and her mother had in common- the Goo Goo Dolls. She was about fie years old when she went to their concert with her mother and father. Her dad was a big fan as well, and got them tickets to a show in Buffalo, a town in Upstate New York. They all lived in the city at the time, so it wasn't that bad of a drive. It was one of the last good memories Harper had of her family. And since that one Goo Goo Dolls concert, things had been going slowly downhill. Her parents were divorced, both remarried, and her father was divorced and engaged again. Family was not a good thing for Harper.
James's family was completely different from hers. It was very closely knit, and his parents were still together. That was a big plus. Harper loved James's family. His parents were always so nice to her, and she saw them as sort of a second set of parents. James's little brother Albus was her age, and even though she was a Ravenclaw and Al was a Slytherin in school, they were good enough friends. They were never as close as Harper and James, even as children, but they were still friends. And Lily, though she was younger than Harper, was nice enough to her. They were never best friends or anything, but like Al, she was friends enough with Harper. She enjoyd famly gatherings wth James's family, especially when it was the whole Weasley clan as well. They were amusing. She smiled, remembering when she and James had been "married" as seven year olds. One of his cousins was the priest and married them, and the rest of the day was spent eating whatever it was that Grana Molly (somethng Harper had been calling James's grandmother since she could remember) had made for the occasion and playing in the mud.
All her life, she had been friends with James, and all her life, there had been a soft spot in her heart for him. He was always a cut kid, and he had grown in and out of an awkward stage in school. Now he was a very handsome man that she was proud to call her own best friend. Harper had never thought of herself as beautiful, though James had told her otherwise plenty of times. Though she had dated a few guys here and there in school, James was always tugging on her heartstrings. He was always there for her when her world came crashing down on her. And she needed someone like that in her life. When she was upset, James would simply take her in his arms, and things would already be better. The feeling of James's arms around her always felt... right somehow. She never understood why. But even when she was with Lane, James was always right there.
Harper smiled and nearly snorted, but she didn't. She held back a laugh and nodded. "Yeah, I'm not so good at silence, but i feel like i'm in a library. No talking loudly, you know?" She looked over the menu and tried to decifer it, concluding that alfredo sounded safe. Harper looked up at James as he took her hands in his. It sent a shiver down her spine, feeling his hands around hers. And when his lips touched both of them, she bit down on her lip. She listened to him, and tried to understand what he meant, but nothing was coming to her. "What is it James? You know you cn ask me anything." She said. Red wine? What the heck? Why was he doing this? "James, what the hell s going on?" She asked, shaking her head.
