[/center]Atop a small but perfectly adequate stone bench in the diserted courtyard of Hogwarts sat a slender brunette girl with her head angled downwards in a gesture that would convey that of sadness and contemplation to anyone that would pass by. The truth however was that her mind and eyes were absorbed in the task of finishing the weathered paperback book that lay perfectly positioned, open on her lap. The cover, hidden in the soft folds of her dress depicted a shining man atop a horse, his sword aloft and his armor flashing silver in the headlights of an oncoming vehicle. Since she was a little girl, playing on the rocky beaches of France she had been enthralled by the few muggle books she had been allowed to read, that had been deemed suitable as not to posion her precious little mind.
Now that she was old enough to think for herself, and her parents frankly didn't care what muggle activities she engaged herself in, them having shunned her into the background thanks to her entrance into the fabled house of Godric Gryffindor, she hungrily fed on every discarded fantasy paperback she could lay her hands on. The current fascination that was at this moment laid in on the top of her exposed legs was a story of wonder to the mind of Dahlia. Though she lived in a world were wizards and trolls were the norm, where giants dwelled in rocky chasms and dragons flew through the night air, the tale of faeries and nymphs was like a dream to her and she read it eagerly every night before she retired to bed.
Except today she had found a problem in her day, there were hours spread out before her that belonged to nothing in her schedule and she had snuck away from the chattering bodes pressed against each other at the dinner table and slipped into the courtyard to enjoy a few hours on her own underneath the slowly setting sun. Still high enough to provide light it hung just behind her head, her eyes just out of reach of being dazzled by it's radiant glory, she had placed herself perfectly to take advantage of it's luminous light.
Howarts had become a much more welcoming place to Dahlia of late, these last 2 years without her elder sister had both improved her popularity with her other housemates and those Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs who had secretly still suspected her of behing a secret Slytherin had finally come around to the idea that she was who she was, a Gryffindor at the very heart and soul of her. After 6 years at the school, even Dahlia had come to accept herself as a Gryffindor, she stopped any foolish thoughts about how she might get herself transferred and had finally become happy with her placing, radiant in the memory of the many friends she had made in this place that she would never have to give up. The idea of it brought a small smile to her lips as she turned the page of her paperback, wondering what answer to the cliff hanger on the previous page the author had waiting for her.
